The San Diego Public library was first established in 1882. There are 36 library branches throughout the city that make up the San Diego Public Library system, including the Central Library, which I had the pleasure of visiting recently. Completed in 2013, the new building for the Central Branch has 9 stories, and is over 350,000 square feet. Besides housing the library’s vast literary collection, the new building includes comfortable study areas and quiet spaces for people to enjoy books and other media. San Diego’s Central Library is definitely worth a visit for those who enjoy books, and even those who just want to enjoy a modern quiet space with great views of downtown and the bay.
